Visitors Leigh produced a confident and dominant display to condemn Trafford to their first defeat in three games at Shawe View on Saturday.
Garry Vaughan's young side started brightly and after only four minutes Shelton Payne and Scott Barlow linked neatly but Greg Hall shot into the side-netting.
Gradually the visitors assumed control and in the 13th minute Richard Radcliffe's snapshot from 10 yards was tipped over by Tom Read.
Trafford's normally resolute defence then contrived to present the visitors with three gilt edged chances as Nia Buyunu, Chris Lawton and Paul Ashton gifted possession to their opponents but fortunately Whitham, Ince and Stepien were profligate in front of goal.
Home keeper Tom Read continued to perform heroics as half time approached, saving comfortably from Stepien and then blocking Kris King's effort from point blank range as Leigh repeatedly tore holes in the Trafford defence.

Half time arrived with Trafford mightily relieved to be on level terms and four minutes after break they manufactured their first shot on target when Shelton Payne cut in from the right and curled a shot into the arms of Stephen Drench.
However, the visitors once again dominated possession and in the 52nd minute 17 year old Dale Whitham struck a fierce drive from 20 yards that cannoned back into play off the upright.
Leigh's diminutive left winger Tom Ince was producing some magical footwork to torment the Trafford defence and in the 65th minute he set up Jordan Stepien but once again Read saved bravely from close range.
In the 69th minute the visitors were finally rewarded for their superiority when Trafford failed to clear a deep free kick from the left and Stepien volleyed past Read from 12 yards.
Leigh were now well in control but Trafford almost snatched an unlikely equaliser four minutes from time when Scott Metcalfe swung over a free kick from the right and Nia Buyunu headed over from just six yards.
Deep into injury time the visitors launched a quick break out of defence and Trafford centre half Chris Lawton pulled Jordan Stepien down from behind. The referee had no hesitation in awarding a spot kick which Stepien coolly placed past read to make it 2-0.

Following two good performances and victories over Rossendale and Woodley, Trafford were hugely disappointed with their performance and they will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they travel over the Pennines to play Harrogate Railway, kick off 3 p.m. then on Tuesday night they entertain Mossley at Shawe View, kick off 7-45 p.m.

Trafford Chairman Tom Walmsley would like to thank all the children from the local primary schools who donated football boots in the 'Boots for Africa' campaign.

Trafford turned on the style in the second half to overpower a well-drilled Woodley outfit and make it two wins in four days.
Both defences were on top in the first half although it was the visitors who had the best chance of taking the lead when, after six minutes, Liam Hogan saw his header from a left wing corner superbly saved by Tom Read.
Trafford came more into the game but squandered some good approach work with some careless crossing and the sides went into the break deadlocked at 0-0.

In the 51st minute Trafford stormed ahead when Scott Metcalfe and Scott Barlow linked on the left and Metcalfe strode forward to drive hard and low past Matt Towns from the edge of the penalty area.
Metcalfe should have notched again when he headed a Shelton Payne corner over from six yards but the second goal arrived in the 62nd minute when Glyn Barker was gifted possession and he neatly fed Scott Barlow who easily beat the advancing Towns from eight yards.
Shelton Payne missed a great chance in the 69th minute when he was released by Barlow but shot against Towns from point blank range.
The only Woodley chance of any note came three minutes from time when substitute Mike Clarke saw his shot parried by read and Craig Hall cleared the rebound.
Trafford will be hoping to make it three wins out of three on Saturday when they entertain Leigh Genesis at Shawe View, kick off 3 p.m.
